Forecasted Snow Closes Cayuse & Chinook Pass
Winter is on its way! Due to a strong storm predicted to arrive this week, the Washington State Department of Transportation has closed Chinook Pass / State Route 410 and Cayuse Pass / State Route 123 for the season at noon today. The National Weather Service reports the snow level will drop below 2,000 feet bringing 6 to 20 inches of snow to the Cascade Mountains in the coming days. Paradise at Mt. Rainier is predicted to receive over a foot of new snow. A winter storm watch is in effect from late today through late tomorrow night.
To date, Paradise has received 69 inches of snow this season. 21 inches of snow is on the ground now at Paradise.
