Spring in to Easter Around Mt. Rainier

Enjoy brunch in the national park, rejoice in the sunrise during an Easter service at 6,800 feet, ski with the Easter Bunny, or travel by train to an egg hunt.  These are just some of the special Easter activities found around Mt. Rainier.  Check VisitRanier.com for last minute Spring Break specials and enjoy free entrance to Mt. Rainier, April 19-20, for  National Park Week, too!

Easter weekend is full of entertainment at Alta Crystal Resort.  Friday night guests will enjoy a cupcake and crafts party followed by the movie “It’s the Easter Beagle Charlie Brown”.  Saturday afternoon there will be an egg hunt with prizes for everyone.  Later that evening try roasting Peeps™  at the community bonfire! S’mores, wine, beer and hot chocolate will also be served. In addition to the fun, discounted spring room rates apply.  For more information visit www.altacrystalresort.com

Hop aboard the Bunny Express at the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad depot in Elbe on April 19.  Riders will be whisked away on a vintage steam engine through the forest and foothills south of Mt. Rainier. Spot the Easter Bunny along the way to Mineral where kids will have a chance to search for eggs filled with treats.  The Bunny Express fills up fast, so hop to it and reserve tickets early. And parents—don’t forget to bring your camera and basket for collecting eggs!  For more information visit www.mrsr.org.

Catch a predawn ride up to Crystal Mountain Resort’s summit for the Sunrise Easter Service this April 20. Watch the beauty unfold during this inter-denominational observance.  The ticket windows will be open between 5:25 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. and participants upload on to the Mt. Rainier Gondola between 5:30 a.m. and 5:50 a.m. sharp.  Regular scenic or ski lift + gondola rates apply and no reservations are required. Skiing and riding down will have to wait until the mountain opens during its regular hours.   Later that day, the Easter Bunny will be shredding up the slopes with pockets full of candy.

The Alpine Inn at Crystal Mountain will host its annual Easter brunch followed by a snow-covered Easter egg hunt starting at 12:30 p.m.  Children 10 and younger are welcome to participate in the hunt.  Parents are asked to bring 12 candy-filled eggs to the Alpine Inn by 11 a.m.

April 19 and 20 are free admission days at Mt. Rainier National Park, so it is the perfect time to visit!  The National Park Inn is serving Easter Brunch 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Easter Sunday.  Buffet includes ham, traditional eggs Benedict, potato scramble, house-made biscuits and gravy, fruits, pastries and more.  The price is $17.95 for adults and $12.95 for children.  Reservations are required and can be made by calling 360-569-2411.

White Pass Ski Area has an Easter egg hunt for kids 12 and younger.  Meet at 11 a.m. behind the buildings at High Camp.  For more information, visit www.skiwhitepass.com.
